Use Game Design to Solve Real-World Problems
A hands-on, half-day workshop that gives your team a different way to think, collaborate, and solve business challenges.
Every organization faces problems that don't have simple answers. Teams struggle with changing processes, conflicting priorities, employee engagement, customer experience, and adapting to new technology.
Traditional meetings often produce more discussion than action.
What happens when your team starts thinking like game designers?
Game designers build systems around goals, rules, actions, incentives, choices, and feedback. These same principles can help organizations examine complex challenges and explore new approaches.
In The Game Beyond, facilitator Gabe Mac teaches your team how to apply Serious Game Design to real organizational problems.
Participants don't just listen to a presentation. They learn a practical design framework, work together on a challenge relevant to their organization, and develop prototypes of possible solutions.

“This takes the BS out of Gamification.”
“This workshop is the equivalent to the first semester of a Game Design Master’s program, in a few hours.”
What Could Your Team Work On?
The Game Beyond at DLD Women in Munich, Germany
The workshop can be customized around challenges such as:
Organizational Change: Explore why people resist change and how better-designed systems can support adoption.
Leadership and Collaboration: Examine how goals, rules, incentives, and feedback influence teamwork.
Innovation and Problem-Solving: Move beyond brainstorming to developing and testing possible approaches.
Employee Engagement: Understand the systems shaping motivation, participation, and behavior.
Customer Experience: Explore how people interact with your services and how those experiences might be improved.
AI and Digital Transformation: Help teams rethink workflows, responsibilities, and collaboration as technology changes.
Your team brings the business challenge. We bring the design methodology.
“It was a very good presentation, Gabe is a great talker and really knows how to gain the attention of the audience. It was a pleasure taking this workshop. Now I’m gonna get deeper into Gamification.”
How the Workshop Works
1. Understand the challenge
Before the workshop, we learn about your organization, participants, and the problem you'd like to explore. The session is customized around that context.
2. Learn to think like a game designer
Participants are introduced to a practical framework for examining goals, systems, rules, actions, incentives, and feedback loops.
3. Apply the method
Working in teams, participants use the framework to examine the selected challenge, question assumptions, and design possible approaches.
4. Prototype and discuss solutions
Teams develop early concepts or prototypes, share their reasoning, and identify ideas worth testing further.
What Your Team Takes Away
By the end of the workshop, participants will have:
Experience applying Serious Game Design to a real business challenge.
A shared vocabulary for discussing complex systems and behaviors.
Practice collaborating through a structured creative process.
Early prototypes or concepts that can be explored and refined.
A different perspective on how organizational problems can be approached.
The workshop is designed to generate learning and promising ideas, not to promise that every organizational problem will be solved in one afternoon.
